Association Odyssée proposes several study visits dedicated to European professionals willing to enlarge their network and deepend their knowledges, skills and competences by coming to Bordeaux, France. Our local network of non-profit organisations, schools, companies, institutions, local authorities allow us to set up a tailor-made programme.

1. Preschool education: Intercultural learning with migrants. How to work intercultural in kindergarten with persons from different cultural backgrounds?

Association Odyssée organises a one-week course on this topic in partnership with FairBUND e.V., Germany.

The course of this study visit is structured to:

– provide the participants with relevant information on the French scholarship system

– provide the participants with relevant information on the French context regarding migrations

– allow the participants to discover several organisations and to exchange with the staff members such as: nursery (0-3 years old), kindergarten (3-6 years old), non-profit organisations working with families and children with different cultural backgrounds etc.

Indicative programme

Day 1: Arrival to Bordeaux, installation in the accommodation

Day 2:

– introduction meeting with information on the programme, the course’s objectives, the organisation
– theoretical part: overview on the French scholarship system and on the context regarding past and current migrations in France
– discovery of Bordeaux during a guided city tour

Day 3: Study visit: visit of a kindergarten for children from 0 to 3 years old whose families have different cultural backgrounds, introductions and exchanges with the staff members

Day 4: Study visit: visit of a organisation supporting itinerants people – travellers in the territory

Day 5:

– Study visit: visit of an organisation supporting families, mothers and children with migration backgrounds or with different cultural backgrounds towards their integration at local level
– Study visit: visit of an organisation supporting families and mothers with migration backgrounds with a focus on health and psychology

Day 6:

– Study visit: visit of an organisation supporting mothers and families with migration backgrounds in their integration at local level and in their relationships with the schools
– Final meeting: self-assessment and evaluation of the mobility, administrative documents, organisation of the departure

Day 7: departure and way back to Germany


2. Language promotion within Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Europe

In May 2019, Odyssée welcomed a group of German teachers and researchers for a study visit on integrated language learning in the vocational education and training system, funded by the Erasmus + programme and coming with the Mobinardo programme. Various meetings and exchanges were organised with teachers and trainers allowing to question and deepen the knowledges, practices and approaches of all participants involved.

 

Programme:

Day 1: Arrival to Bordeaux, installation in the accommodation

Day 2:

– Introduction meeting with Odyssée’s team, information on the programme, the course’s objectives, the organisation
– Overview of the topic: VET and language learning
– Theoretical part: overview on the French VET system and exchanges with teachers of the Vocational High School and Apprenticeship Center Gustave Eiffel on language learning issues
– Meeting with facilitators, trainers and participants of the Job to Stay project led in Bordeaux by Odyssée
– Meeting with an English teacher part of the CASNAV programme

Day 3:

– Welcoming session and tour by the students of the Vocational High School Les Menuts
– Theoretical part: overview of the Vocational High School system and language learning issues, round table
– Job shadowing with teachers of business and economics, administration, customers relations, French as Foreign Language, hairdressing…

Day 4:

– Meeting with a training center providing vocational training and language courses, named Alios Formation.
– Final meeting: self-assessment and evaluation of the mobility, administrative documents, organisation of the departure, closure of the trip. Way back to Germany.

3. Innovative approaches for agriculture teachers

In 2016, Odyssée organised and implemented a one-week study visit with a group of 8 Italian teachers of agriculture, horticulture, organic approaches, and wine production, in partnership with AEF in Italy. Several visits occured:

– theoretical information with DRAAF on the French system for agricultural teaching and training

– study visit to Terres d’ADELE

– study visit to Jardin Botanique

– study visit to Tonnellerie Nadalié

– study visit to Château Dillon

– study visit to the Horticulture High School Camille Godard

– city tour of Bordeaux

– cultural visits to Saint-Emilion and Cité du Vin
